| WHAT IS
THE AVERAGE SCHEDULE FOR A FLOOD BARRIER PROJECT?
A flood barrier project should begin at the time the project’s
conception. This way the design professional can incorporate all
the necessary design criteria within the plans. This process gives
both the builder and us a huge head start in bringing the project
to completion quickly. If flood barriers are an afterthought or
as-built, then the process of completion can become a difficult
and complicated procedure. It is necessary that the walls and slabs
around the openings be designed to handle the installation of the
barriers; as well as, the design loads and be watertight.
Under normal circumstances a project takes 3-4 weeks for the permitting
process, 3-6 weeks for the manufacturing process and 1-2 weeks for
the installation. This assumption is based on an average size project
of 12- 4’-0” barriers, none greater than 12’-0”
in width. It is also assumed that all design considerations were
established within the plans prior to construction.
